Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented Union Budget 2025-26 on Saturday.

Budget 2025: The government will establish the Makhana Board in Bihar to improve the production and processing of fox nut, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said while presenting Union Budget 2025-26 on Saturday.
This is Sitharaman's eighth consecutive Budget speech and also her first full-fledged Budget in the third term of the NDA government at the Centre. In the first half-hour of her speech, the focus remained primarily on the agriculture sector with key announcements for MSMEs and exports.
On the announcement, Bihar Minister Mangal Pandey thanked PM Narendra Modi, Sitharaman and Minister of Agriculture Shivraj Singh Chouhan on behalf of lakhs of farmers of Bihar who cultivate fox nuts.
"I want to thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Minister of Agriculture Shivraj Singh Chouhan on behalf of lakhs of farmers of Bihar who cultivate fox nuts... These farmers have been demanding the formation of a Makhana Board for a very long time, just like there is a Tea Board and Rubber Board... We requested for the formation of this board when Shivraj Singh Chouhan came to Patna recently and today that dream of foxnut cultivating farmers has been fulfilled through the announcement by the Finance Minister during Union Budget 2025," he said.
