Budget 2024: From Housing To Hospital — This Is What Modi Govt Will Spend On New Infra

Interim Budget 2024: The FM said that the Infrastructure outlay for the year 2024-25 has been increased by 11.1 per cent to Rs 11.11 lakh crore

Infrastructure outlay for the year 2024-25 has been increased by 11.1 per cent to Rs 11.11 lakh crore. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday during her interim Budget speech said that the government is building on the tripling of the capital expenditure outlay in the past four years, resulting in a significant multiplier impact on the country's economic growth and employment creation.

Hospital And Housing Infrastructure

In addition, the government is also planning to set up more medical colleges by utilising the existing hospital infrastructure under various departments. The government will also launch a new scheme to help the deserving middle-class section of the country living on rent or, in slums or in unauthorised colonies to either buy or build their own home, adding to the better infrastructure initiative for the people of India.

Tourism Infrastructure

FM Sitharaman also emphasised the initiatives to improve tourism infrastructure, which the government will take up on islands, including Lakshadweep, to cater to the emerging demand for domestic tourism in the country. “States will be encouraged to take up comprehensive development of iconic tourist centres, branding and marketing them at the global scale,” she said.

Railway Infrastructure

In a move to further enhance railway infrastructure, under the Prime Minister Gati Shakti Scheme, the government will establish three major corridors, including energy, mineral, and cement corridors, port connectivity corridors, and high traffic density corridors that will enable multi-modal connectivity.

Advanced Infrastructure For Bio-manufacturing

The Finance Minister also said that a new scheme for bio-manufacturing and bio-foundry will be launched to provide a better infrastructure and promote green growth. To support green energy, a coal gasification and liquefaction capacity of 100 MT will be set up by 2030. These developments will help in reducing imports of natural gas, methanol, and ammonia, said FM.
