Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Budget 2023 in Parliament today. Her budget speech lasted for 86 minutes, her shortest so far. Last year, she clocked 92 minutes, while in 2021, she spoke for an hour and 50 minutes.
Some major announcements were made by Sitharaman during her fifth consecutive budget presentation. Increasing the tax slab was amongst the much-awaited mega announcement. As soon as the tax slab was increased by the Finance Minister, Twitter was flooded with memes.

This was the last full Budget of the Modi Government before the 2024 general elections. From major industries to MSMEs, salaried classes to farmers, and education to healthcare, everyone is eyeing some relief from this Budget.
On Tuesday, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman tabled the Economic Survey (2022-23) in Parliament. The Economic Survey 2022-23 has forecast India’s GDP growth for the next fiscal 2023-24 in a broad range of 6-6.8 per cent. Its baseline forecast for real GDP growth is 6.5 per cent.
