Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) has achieved a significant milestone, surpassing 12,000 megawatts (MW) in its operational portfolio. According to its official statement, AGEL is the first and only renewable energy company in India to reach this landmark. The company’s portfolio now stands at 12,258.1 MW, which includes 8,347.5 MW from solar, 1,651 MW from wind, and 2,259.6 MW from wind-solar hybrid capacity.
"The milestone underscores AGEL’s commitment to deliver 50,000 MW of clean, affordable and reliable power by 2030. The 12,258.1 MW operational portfolio will power more than 6.2 million homes and avoid about 22.64 million tonnes of CO2 emissions annually. The emissions avoided are equivalent to carbon sequestrated by 1,078 million trees,” the firm said in an official statement.
Adani Green Energy has made a notable contribution to India’s renewable energy (RE) objectives with its remarkable 12,258.1 MW capacity. This achievement represents the largest greenfield expansion in India’s RE sector, accounting for nearly 10 per cent of the country’s total installed utility-scale solar and wind capacity. Additionally, the company plays a key role, contributing over 13 per cent of India’s total utility-scale solar installations.
World’s Largest Renewable Energy Plant
Adani Green Energy is currently developing the world’s largest renewable energy plant, with a capacity of 30,000 MW, located on a barren wasteland in Khavda, Kutch, Gujarat. Covering an area of 538 square kilometres, it is five times the size of Paris and nearly as large as Mumbai. Once completed, it will become the world’s largest power plant across all energy sources. To date, AGEL has operationalized a cumulative renewable energy capacity of 2,824.1 MW at Khavda. The rapid progress at this site highlights AGEL’s dedication to supporting India’s goal of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.
Meanwhile, Adani Green Energy Ltd is one of the leading players globally in driving the clean energy transition. AGEL develops, owns, and operates utility-scale, grid-connected solar, wind, hybrid, and hydro-pumped storage power plants.
