Volkswagen To Start Pre Bookings For Golf GTI In India Soon

This is the second time that the GTI badge is sold in India after the Polo GTI. This time the GTI is the original hot hatchback which is the Golf GTI

Volkswagen will kickstart pre bookings for its Golf GTI as early as on the 5th of May. Due to low number of units, earlier pre-bookings will mean deliveries in June. The Golf GTI is a hot hatchback and is a performance car which is coming to India via the import route. The first lot of the Golf GTIs would be around 150 cars. The GTI is a performance hatchback version of the standard Golf premium hatchback. The GTI is expected to have a 265hp 2.0 TSI turbo engine and comes with a DSG gearbox.

0-100 km/h is around under 6 seconds. Of course it comes with all of the required updates for a performance car including sporty suspension, driving experience, exhaust and steering plus others. This is the second time that the GTI badge is sold in India after the Polo GTI. This time the GTI is the original hot hatchback which is the Golf GTI. Being a performance car, the Golf GTI wont have many rivals other than the Mini Cooper S which is also a premium performance hatchback.

However, especially at the expected price point that it will be coming in, the Golf GTI would be unique. The Golf GTI as shown in the images is also the India spec model which comes with a large touchscreen plus sporty alloys which is also expected from a GTI. We expect a price-tag of Re 45-50 lakh for the Golf GTI which would be fully loaded in India.
