Volkswagen Golf GTI First Look Review: What Would Be The Expected Price?

The new generation Golf is a rather big car and in hatchbacks, would be the biggest one of all in India while the exterior is pretty aggressive

In India we never had the Golf on sale but we did get a limited series of Polo GTIs with the 3-door version. Now, Volkswagen announced that they will launch the Golf GTI in India. The Golf is a premium hatchback and the GTI is the fastest version of it. In India, the Golf GTI would come via the import route while the pricing could be around Rs 50 lakh.

However, it is a proper performance car as you will read below. The new generation Golf is a rather big car and in hatchbacks, would be the biggest one of all in India while the exterior is pretty aggressive. It has details like 19-inch wheels, LED lights and a proper performance focussed styling theme. Other highlights include twin exhausts, an illuminated Volkswagen logo at the front and more. It looks mean and has a presence for sure. Inside, it is based on the new generation Golf which means a larger touchscreen, configurable digital dials plus proper sport seats.

There is also red stitching on the seats, centre armrest, floor mats and of course on the steering wheel. There is also a voice assistant, Chat GPT, illuminated touch sliders for the automatic air conditioner and volume control and more. There would be plenty of space considering it is a near 4.3m car. The GTI though is about the engine and here it is a turbocharged engine with 265bhp and 370Nm with a 7-speed DSG as standard.

There is also an electronic differential lock while claimed 0-100 km/h is 5.9 seconds while the top-speed is 250km/h. In terms of  driving, expect nimble handling and proper driving thrills. The new Golf GTI would compete with the Mini Cooper S which meanwhile is a 3-door while the Golf GTI is a 5-door. The looks are enticing and the performance is there while it will be a limited edition car for enthusiasts for sure.
