VF8 EV Could Be First Vinfast SUV For India
The VF8 also has been styled by Pininfarina which is a Mahindra owned famous styling house.
Vinfast is the latest carmaker to enter the Indian market and it has made its intentions clear as to firmly establish its presence here with a plant in Tamil Nadu. Construction of its Tamil Nadu plant has begun and this facility is 400 acres within the State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu (SIPCOT) industrial estate and has an initial investment of $500 million over 5 years, with a projected capacity of 150,000 vehicles annually.
In addition to the existing manufacturing complex in Vietnam and future plants in the U.S. and Indonesia, India will be an important manufacturing hub for the Vietnamese carmaker.
Vinfast also recently entered the US market with the VF8 premium EV and that could be one of their first cars for India with other EVs in the offing.
While not confirmed, the VF8 is a big 4.7m EV which comes with a dual motor layout which develops more than 400hp while also having a range of more than 400km at around 471km. The VF8 is also quite fast with a claimed 0-100 km/h of 5.5 seconds. The VF8 also has been styled by Pininfarina which is a Mahindra owned famous styling house.
In terms of features, the VF8 gets no less than 11 airbags, a 15.6 inch touchscreen, ADAS features, powered seats, heated steering wheel, vegan leather seats and OTA updates along with the usual features like a panoramic sunroof.
The other interesting bit is the 10 year long warranty. These are the global specs while we await details regarding the Vinfast models for India but the Indian car buyer now has another choice now.
Other than the VF8, there is an entire range of cars including a new mass market EV unveiled by them recently.
