Tesla Model 3 Seen In India - Check Out What It Will Cost
Expect the Model 3 to have a range that would be well above 550km per single charge while the performance would also be quick with a 0-100 km/h time of just 4.5 seconds. See below to read other specifications.
New Delhi: It is no secret that Tesla is coming to India and it has been promised for many years by its CEO, Elon Musk. Now it is finally happening but the actual debut is still some time away as the infrastructure, development, sales strategy and other things are getting worked out first. That said, Tesla has been hiring top-level executives for its India operations at full strength. It had earlier registered its India subsidiary in Bengaluru while picking top executives for some key roles.
Now the first model which is coming to India is the Model 3. The Model 3 is the affordable luxury sedan from Tesla and ideal for India. That car has been seen testing here in India for various processes before launching like ARAI certification and more. Interestingly the model seen in India is not the base variant Tesla but a mid-spec variant. The Model 3 that will come to India will most likely be the Dual Motor version with a longer range and AWD. Expect the Model 3 to have a range that would be well above 550km per single charge while the performance would also be quick with a 0-100 km/h time of just 4.5 seconds.
Also, the India spec version would be well equipped with powered seats, wireless charging, a glass sunroof and a massive 15-inch touch screen that controls everything. Also, there is no key as it uses a special card for entry. Space-wise it is similar to a BMW 3 Series. Tesla sells its cars differently and it does not use a franchise model. In India, Tesla will have dealerships in a few cities to start with and expand more.
Expect a launch by Diwali while the price tag would be around Rs 45 lakh plus. Do note that Tesla worldwide sells other cars like the Model S and the Model X which are a lot more expensive hence we do not see them coming to India. The Model 3 has been designed for entry-level buyers and for markets like ours. Before launch, the Tesla supercharger network would also be there for owners to charge their Tesla cars.
