The Thar 5-door is one of the most talked about launches of next year and while it has taken some time, the car seems to be shaping up to be a premium step up over the 3-door Thar and won't just be a 3-door Thar with extra doors. The Thar 5 door would be more feature-rich and also have more space. We expect a rear camera plus a sunroof to be offered while we also expect a larger touchscreen. However, Mahindra could offer a more powerful diesel engine over the current Thar 3 door to compensate for the extra weight as well.

The Thar 5-door would be larger and more heavier than the 3-door hence, the additional grunt of the more powerful diesel engine could come in handy. Like the Scorpio N, the Thar 5 door could be coming with a more powerful diesel engine while also coming with drive modes. The extra power could also be differentiated over the Thar 3 door and be a major highlight.

The Thar 5 door is expected to come next year and will be another addition to the Mahindra portfolio while Mahindra clears some of the backlog of orders for the Thar 3 door. With the launch of the Thar 3-door RWD, Mahindra has expanded the Thar appeal and now it is a big seller as well.

The 5-door is expected to be launched with 4x4 though but the focus on comfort and luxury means that it will be for a different buyer when compared to the Thar 3-door.

Expect the Thar 5 door to have a price premium over the 3 door for the extra features as well while if it gets more power, expect the Thar 5 door to carve its own niche.
