The locally-assembled Jeep Wrangler is launched in two variants – Unlimited and Rubicon. It also sports an Indian flag on the tailgate, signifying that it is now made in India.
After the new Compass, Jeep has now launched the locally assembled Wrangler in India at much more competitive prices. The Wrangler now starts from Rs 53.9 lakh for the Unlimited while the Rubicon is Rs 57.9 lakh. Production for this SUV had started from February of this year. The locally-assembled Jeep Wrangler is launched in two variants – Unlimited and Rubicon. Both variants are powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo petrol engine. This engine is based on the group’s GME or Global Medium Engine platform and it makes 268 bhp and 400 Nm of torque. Standard is an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
The locally assembled version has the same quality while it also sports an Indian flag on the tailgate, signifying that it is now made in India. The locally assembled Wrangler will also get a long list of accessories with four options namely the Explorer Pack, Night Ultra Vision Pack, Sports Pack and the Essential Pack. The Rubicon is the more off road focused version of the Wrangler and has an ground clearance of 217 mm (as per IS 9435:2004), water wading capability of 760 mm (at 8 km/h) and approach, departure and break-over angles of 36- degrees, 31-degrees and 21-degrees.
The Wrangler also gets luxury based features including leather seats, a soft touch leather-finish dashboard, UConnect infotainment, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone air-conditioning, automatic headlamps, LED tail lamps, LED DRL, full-framed removable doors, a three-piece modular hard top and a fold-flat front windshield. The locally-assembled Jeep Wrangler is available in 5 colours – Bright White, Sting Grey, Granite Crystal, Black and Firecracker Red. Whatever the colour the Wrangler sure looks good while having the traditional Jeep design elements like the grille and the round headlamps. At this reduced price the Wrangler does not get any rivals and also makes much more sense as a hard core off-road SUV that can also be driven everyday while also having all the creature comforts.
