Hyundai Creta Hybrid To Compete With Grand Vitara In A Few Years?

Globally SUVs like the Tucson come with a hybrid powertrain which could make sense but hybrid will certainly add to the price of the car while localisation is the key for more mass market models

Hyundai would be most likely to jump in on the hybrid bandwagon with a series of hybrid SUVs within the midsize space. However, this would take a while and first we will see the Creta EV which is their first mass market electric car being launched in India.

The Creta EV while being the first one is not the only one as hybrid cars would also be coming in with increasing demand for them. It is clear that along with EVs, hybrids have been selling well due to the advantages that they pose over an EV hence, Hyundai most likely would bring back plans to launch hybrids after having an EV only plan earlier.

Hybrids bring efficiency while also not requiring charging unlike EVs, which make them practical. Currently, Maruti Suzuki and Toyota offer strong hybrids but soon Hyundai will also come in. What cars will get the hybrid tech is a mystery but there is clearly demand for hybrid cars since they bring efficiency which matches a diesel.

Plus even diesel engines could get hybrid systems to have them continue in our market with tightening norms. Hence, Hyundai will keep the diesel engine strong with a hybrid set-up while it could bring petrol hybrids too.

Globally SUVs like the Tucson come with a hybrid powertrain which could make sense but hybrid will certainly add to the price of the car while localisation is the key for more mass market models.

Hence, in the future we may see a hybrid diesel Creta coming in to supplement the Creta EV which is launching earlier! WIth hybrid sales being strong in India, no wonder that carmakers have renewed interest and with this Hyundai will have a larger electrified portfolio.
