We Want To Make EV As The Primary Car For Indian Car Buyer - Partho Banerjee On E Vitara Maruti Suzuki EV

The e Vitara is the start and Maruti Suzuki is also building an ecosystem with 'E for Me' EV which we discussed with Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Director of Maruti Suzuki.

Maruti Suzuki is launching its first electric SUV soon which is the e Vitara. Unveiled at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo, the e Vitara signals the start of a slew of EVs planned by Maruti Suzuki for India. However, the e Vitara is the start and Maruti Suzuki is also building an ecosystem with 'E for Me' EV which we discussed with Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Director of Maruti Suzuki. "e for Me' means that buyers of this product will have one app instead of many others while even without signals buyers can do transactions for charging. Also for the top 100 cities there will be a fast charger within the radius of 5-10 kilometers," said Mr. Banerjee while also saying that the 500kmplus range for the e Vitara is also a sweet spot in terms of the EV segment.

He also said that buyers for the e Vitara will get a home charger calibrated to whatever kw available. As per Banerjee, removing the paint points for EV buyers will increase the adoption of electrification and also Maruti Suzuki wants to make EVs a primary car. Some of the issues till now are the range, public infrastructure, aftersales which Maruti Suzuki has attempted to change.

He also said "Maruti Suzuki is not in a hurry to launch the product as we want to first create the ecosystem and then start selling the car". The carmaker has said that they will launch as many as five EVs over the next five years.

The e Vitara will be sold via Nexa dealerships and will come with two battery packs while as mentioned before, the range is around 500kmplus. It will also come with 7 airbags as standard and ADAS level 2 amongst others.
