BYD's New Electric-Petrol Hybrid SUV Promises 1,200 Km Range With 700 BHP

Chinese multinational manufacturer Buil Your Dreams (BYD) currently has two products in India, with the latest launch being the Atto 3 premium SUV. Globally, BYD will expand and launch more models in the years to come, including new SUVs.

The electric vehicle (EV) maker is also making more premium cars and the next product from BYD would be a massive off-roader. It would be a G-Class rival and would be having a hybrid electric powertrain. It would be four-wheel drive and have locking differentials.

The new SUV would be under the F-model line and pack nearly 700 bhp. The new SUV would be a hardcore off-roader though with a ladder frame chassis. The combined range with this new SUV would be around 1,200 km and that would mean this petrol-electric hybrid would go long distances easily while being a tough as nails SUV.

By the look of it, the SUV has boxy proportions, with a flat roofline and a raised SUV stance. It would be big as well. With a length of over 5 metres, it would be a luxurious SUV, that would be loaded with comfort features. This sub-brand is likely to spawn other SUVs as well, along with trucks, in the future.

There is already the Yangwang brand under BYD and its U8 SUV. But this SUV would be a more rugged offering. Hence, the hybrid electric powertrain instead of being just electric. The F model would be coming in 2024, but it is unclear whether this would come to India although the hybrid powertrain along with the range makes it ideal for our roads not to mention the rugged looks.

BYD is also planning to introduce more models in the future for the Indian market, while preparing to launch its next product -- the Seal sedan -- which it showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo.
