TN Chopper Crash: Lance Naik Sai Teja's Mortal Remains Reaches His Home Town In Andhra Pradesh

The last rites will be performed with military honours

New Delhi: Lance Naik B Sai Teja's Mortal Remains was brought to his hometown Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh on Sunday. Sai, a personal security officer of CDS Bipin Rawat, was killed in a chopper crash along with Gen Rawat and 11 others in Tamil Nadu's Coonoor on Wednesday (December 8). The last rites will be performed with military honours.

On Saturday, the Andhra Pradesh government announced Rs 50 lakh ex-gratia for the kin of Sai Teja. Military authorities on Saturday identified the body of Sai Teja and have handed it over to the family.

Sai Teja joined Army in 2012 as a sepoy and only in 2020, he was appointed as a PSO to the Chief of Defence Staff. Sai Teja is survived by his wife and two children. 

Hours before the mishap, 27-year-old Sai Teja spoke to his wife on a video call but could not talk to his children as they were getting ready for school, reports Deccan Chronicle. Later he placed a message to his wife, that reads "happy ga undu" (be happy). The report also said that he was planning to make a visit to his hometown to be with his family in January.
