PM Modi Lays Foundation Stone For Projects Worth Rs 10,500 Crore In Andhra Pradesh

Chennai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of projects worth over Rs 10,500 crores in Vishakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy were also present at the event.

In a tweet, PM said, "Projects pertaining to connectivity, oil and gas sector being launched in Visakhapatnam, will give fillip to Andhra Pradesh's growth."

Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation stone for projects including a section of six lane Greenfield Raipur-Visakhapatnam Economic Corridor, Port Road from Convent Junction to Sheela Nagar Junction in Visakhapatnam and U-field Onshore Deepwater block project of ONGC. 

The economic corridor to be built at a cost of Rs 3,750 crore is expected to provide rapid connectivity between the Industrial Nodes of Chhattisgarh and Odisha to Visakhapatnam Port and Chennai - Kolkata National Highway. It is also expected to connect tribal areas of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. 

The Port Road project is mainly aimed at easing traffic congestion in Visakhapatnam City. The road is expected to segregate local and port-bound goods traffic.

Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone for U-field Onshore Deepwater block project of ONGC in Andhra Pradesh. The deepest Gas discovery of the project with a gas production potential of about 3 million metric standard cubic metres per day  (MMSCMD) will be constructed at a cost of more than Rs 2,900 crore.

PM also dedicated Narasannapeta to Pathapatnam section of NH-326A as a part of Srikakulam-Gajapati Corridor.

PM also laid the foundation stone for redevelopment of Visakhapatnam Railway Station, modernization and upgradation of Visakhapatnam Fishing Harbour and Srikakulam Angul Natural Gas Pipeline Project of GAIL.
