Hyderabad: Uppada Beach Road in Andhra Pradesh's Kakinada district was damaged due to gusty winds and heavy rains as cyclone Asani made landfall in the coastal Andhra belt between Kakinada and Visakhapatnam. The movement of vehicular traffic has been affected, reported news agency ANI on Thursday. The restoration works will begin soon, according to the police.

Asani made landfall on Wednesday evening in Andhra's coastal region as a cyclonic storm. The cyclone weakened into a deep depression after crossing the coast between Machilipatnam and Narsapur in Andhra Pradesh.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the deep depression stayed almost stable for the last six hours, and weakened into a depression over the same region. It was centred around Machilipatnam to the west. Heavy rains are expected across the state on Thursday and Friday as an after-effect of the cyclone.
A recent update from IMD says that the deep depression over Andhra Pradesh coastal belt weakened into a well-marked low pressure area over the same region.
During the next 12 hours, squally winds with gusts up to 65 kmph are expected to blow around the system centre and the adjacent west-central Bay of Bengal. Squally winds with gusts up to 65 kmph are expected to dominate along and off the Krishna, East, and West Godavari districts of Andhra Pradesh and Puducherry's Yanam.
Rayalaseema is also likely to receive light to moderate rains on Thursday. Heavy rains are possible in a few parts of the region.
The state disaster management agency set up a helpline for 24 hours a day in the wake of the cyclone said the officials of Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management (APSDM).People in the cyclone-hit areas are advised to contact 1070, 1800 425 101 for emergency assistance.
Weather In Telangana
According to the meteorological office in Hyderabad, there is a possibility of light rain in Telangana on Thursday. A yellow alert was issued in parts of the state.
