Coonoor Chopper Crash: Andhra CM Announces Rs 50 Lakh For Kin Of Deceased Sai Teja | Key Updates

Chennai: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy announced ex gratia of Rs 50 lakh for the kin of late Lance Naik Sai Teja, who was killed in the Coonoor Chopper Crash, on Saturday. The announcement of the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister comes amid the demand of TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidu to provide Rs 1 crore as ex gratia to the family. 

Sai Teja was among one of the personal security officers to CDS General Bipin Rawat and he was one of the passengers in the helicopter that crashed in Coonoor on Wednesday. Sai Teja leaves behind his wife Syamala who is a homemaker and two children aged 5 and 2. 

Further, on Saturday, the government has also identified the mortal remains of Sai Teja and his colleague Vivek Kumar with the help of a DNA test. Till now six bodies have been identified. 

Following this, the IAF is releasing the remains of all the six members including JWO Pradeep, Wg Cdr Chauhan, JWO Das, Sai Tenja and Vivek Kumar on Saturday. The remains of JWO Pradeep which reached Sulur in Tamil Nadu from Delhi have been sent back to his hometown of Trichur in Kerala.

Meanwhile, India Air Force on Saturday thanked the assistance of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, the Nilgiris Collector, police officials and locals of Katteri village. The IAF said, “IAF thanks the prompt and sustained assistance provided by the Office and Staff of @CMOTamilnadu, @collrnlg, Police officials and locals from Katteri village in the rescue and salvage operation after the unfortunate helicopter accident.”
