Governor Lauds Navratna Welfare Schemes In Budget Speech, Highlights Progress In Agri, Industrial And Service Sectors

The government has made remarkable progress in the agricultural, industrial, and service sectors, with a growth rate of 11.43 percent, said the governor.

The budget session of the Andhra Pradesh Legislature began on Tuesday with Governor S Abdul Nazeer's address. During his speech, the governor mentioned that the government, formed with the aspirations of five crore people, has achieved many developments in the past four years. He further stated that the government has made remarkable progress in the agricultural, industrial, and service sectors, with a growth rate of 11.43 per cent.

The governor highlighted the government's achievements, particularly the steps taken for public development through the nine Navratna Welfare Schemes. He spoke on the education sector, mentioning that 17 new medical colleges are being set up in the state. Furthermore, the government has established a JNTU-GV Tribal College of Engineering in Kurupam and a Dr YSR Architecture and Fine Arts University in Kadapa.

Governor Nazeer emphasized that the government is providing financial assistance to 80 lakh children through the Amma Vodi scheme by spending Rs. 19,617.60 crores. He added that under the YSR Jaganna Colonies Scheme, houses were provided for the poor, 30.65 lakh house land titles were distributed in the name of women, and weavers received financial assistance of Rs. 24,000 per year under the YSR Nethanna Nestham scheme.

Moreover, the governor stated that the government is providing 200 units of free electricity under the Jagajjivana Jyoti scheme to 15.14 lakh SC and 4.5 lakhs ST families. He mentioned that Andhra Pradesh is making progress towards the aim of waste-free and garbage-free villages and is leading in cleanliness surveys. The state has also received significant investments through the Global Investors summit.

The Finance Minister, Buggana Rajendranath, will present the budget for the financial year 2023–24 in the Assembly on March 16. The budget session will continue until March 24.
