Atmakur Bypoll Result: YSRCP's Mekapati Vikram Reddy made a landslide victory with 82,888 votes majority in the Atmakur byelections on Sunday
New Delhi: YSRCP's Mekapati Vikram Reddy made a landslide victory with 82,888 votes majority in the Atmakur byelections on Sunday. The overall votes YSRCP candidate secures were 1,02,074. After 20 rounds of counting, Vikram Reddy, brother of late Mekapati Goutham Reddy, was declared winner with a majority of 82,888 votes.
This byelection was to fill the vacant post created after the former Minister for Industries, Commerce, and Information Technology of Andhra Pradesh, 50-year-old Mekapati Goutham Reddy, demise in February 2022 due to heart attack. YSRCP nominated Goutham Reddy's brother Vikram Reddy from the Atmakur constituency in the Nellore district, which was held on Thursday (June 23).
Back in 2019, in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections, YSRCP's Goutham Reddy won from the same constituency with over 22,000 majority. On Sunday, Vikram has been in lead since the first round of counting. BJP candidate Bharat Kumar lost deposit as he could secure paltry 19,332 votes.

Opposition TDP has distanced itself from this byelection as they earlier said that if the ruling government fields a candidate from the family of the deceased, they wouldn't contest. Including BJP's Bharat Kumar, there were 14 candidates in the fray for this bypoll.
Votes secured by parties after 20 rounds of counting:
- YSRCP: 1,02,074.
- BJP: 19,332
- BSP: 4,897
- NOTA: 4,197
- Others: 6,599.
