Andhra Pradesh: Six Odisha Migrant Workers Charred To Death, Reason For Deaths Remains Mystery

Despite police and locals claim that this is due to a short circuit, the electricity department deny it as the reason for this accident remains a mystery for now

Vijayawada: Six migrants workers were charred to death in Lankavani Dibba village of Guntur district. They have died after being electrocuted at a shrimp pond. All the dead are believed to be Odisha residents.

The guards at the shrimp pond were reported to have got electrocuted accidentally while residing in a shed on the bank of the pond on Thursday night. According to ABP Desam's report, locals say the accident was caused by power lines falling on the shed. Police identified the dead as Ram Murthy, Kiran, Manoj, Panda, Naveen and Mahendra.

"We are shifting the deceased to a hospital. All six persons used to work at a prawn breeding pond. Cause of death is yet to be ascertained," said the  Sub-Inspector at Chodayapalem.

The electrocution incident has provoked many suspicions. Police have not allowed the media to arrive at the scene. Although everyone thinks that this was an accident due to the electrocution, the electricity department officials however have denied short circuit as a reason for the accident remains to be a mystery.
