Andhra Pradesh: MP Narasimha Rao Sought Union Ministry Scindia's Intervention For Smooth Functioning Of RINL

the MP also submitted a letter to the union minister highlighting the issues at RINL

Rajya Sabha MP from Andhra Pradesh's Bapatla, GVL Narasimha Rao, on Thursday met Union Minister for Steel Jyotiraditya Scindia and sought the Centre's intervention to ensure the smooth functioning of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) in Visakhapatnam.

During his meet, the MP also submitted a letter to the union minister highlighting the issues at RINL.

In the letter, MP Narasimha Rao mentioned that the steel plant did not have adequate working material, adverse market conditions, and the lack of captive iron ore mines and highly-priced raw materials were the main factors that affected the functioning of the steel plant in Visakhapatnam. The steel plant made a net profit of Rs 913 crore last year (2021).

Stating that the functioning of the plant should be a national priority, the MP said steel plant had a huge annual interest burden of Rs 2500 crore due to high-interest rates, and vacancies at the management level. He stated that all these factors hampered the decision-making process in the organisation.

"Many management level positions in the steel plant are lying vacant which is affecting decision making in the company." he emphasised adding, "I request you to review this matter and take initiative to have competent people appointed to these positions for smooth functioning of the Plant."

Rao further urged the minister in the letter to address the issues on a priority basis.

Following the meet, the MP expressed satisfaction and said that the union minister has assured him that the issues would be resolved.
