Andhra Pradesh: Gold Worth Rs 7.5 Crore Seized In Vijayawada, 4 Arrested
Three were arrested at Vijayawada railway station while another person was taken into custody for transporting gold in buses on the Andhra Pradesh-Tamil Nadu border
The Customs Commissionerate (Preventive) of Vijayawada Wednesday busted gold weighing 12.97 kg worth Rs 7.48 crore. Four persons have been arrested for smuggling the gold into Andhra Pradesh under provisions of the Customs Act 1962. 30 officials from various customs formations of the state participated in the operation.

"The Customs Commissionerate (Preventive) of Vijayawada busted smuggled gold coming into Andhra Pradesh. Gold weighing 12.97 Kg with a market value of Rs 7.48 Cr was seized. Four persons were arrested under provisions of the Customs Act 1962. Further investigation underway," Customs said as quoted by news agency ANI.

Earlier in the day, the Delhi Customs officials said they have destroyed 770 kg of NDPS goods by way of incineration and ETP (Effluent Treatment Plant). The narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances (NDPS) were destroyed on Tuesday (March 21) and contained 661.75 kg mephedrone and 108.251 kg heroin, said a senior customs official, said an IANS report.
"The Government of India has put thrust on zero-tolerance for narcotics in order to attain the goal of a healthy society and prosperous nation. In furtherance to this mantra, the Customs Preventive Commissionerate, New Delhi under the able guidance of the Principal Commissioner of Customs, New Delhi destroyed 770 Kg NDPS goods ...," said the official, as quoted by IANS.
The Customs Preventive Commissionerate, New Delhi has so far destroyed a total of 1,372.205 kg of narcotics in the current financial year 2022-2023.
