Andhra Pradesh CID Arrests Former TDP MLC And Son In Chit Fund Case, Party Alleges Political Vendetta

The Andhra Pradesh Police's CID arrested senior TDP leader Adireddy Appa Rao and his son Adireddy Srinivasa Rao in a case relating to financial irregularities in a chit fund company.

Andhra Pradesh's Crime Investigation Department (CID) has arrested Adireddy Appa Rao, a senior leader of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and former Member of the Legislative Council (MLC), and his son Adireddy Srinivasa Rao in connection with financial irregularities in a chit fund company, according to IANS. The CID officers arrested the father-son duo on Sunday at their residence in Rajamahendravaram and took them to the CID office. Appa Rao, the husband of TDP Rajahmundry MLA Adireddy Bhavani, and their son Srinivasa Rao are directors in Jagajjanani Chit Funds Private Ltd.

Meanwhile, TDP National President and former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu accused the ruling YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government of political harassment and vendetta.

According to IANS, Naidu said that the YSRCP government believed only in illegal cases and arrests and that the arrests of Appa Rao and Srinivasa Rao were another example of their politics of vendetta. He also alleged that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy does not want anybody to do business in the state.

"Is CID a government investigation agency or a YSRCP-threatening agency?" he asked.

TDP Andhra Pradesh President K. Atchannaidu said that the party was not afraid of illegal cases and arrests. He alleged that there was no difference between YSRCP "goondas" and CID officials. The former minister said that while YSRCP leaders were physically attacking TDP workers, the CID was raiding the homes of TDP leaders under the guise of searches.

CM Jagan Mohan Reddy Should Apologise To Rajinikanth: Chandrababu Naidu

Chandrababu Naidu on Monday demanded an apology from CM Jagan Mohan Reddy for the attack by YSRCP leaders on Tamil superstar Rajinikanth. Naidu responded to the statements made by some Andhra Pradesh ministers and YSRCP leaders targeting Rajinikanth for his speech during the birth centenary celebrations of TDP founder N. T. Rama Rao held at Vijayawada on April 28.

Naidu tweeted that the indecent criticism of the superstar, who had shared his relationship and experiences with NTR, is offensive and outrageous. The offensive comments made by the YSRCP leaders on a legendary personality like Rajinikanth, who is highly respected in society, are hurting everyone, Naidu wrote.
