PML-N fields no candidate against Nisar

Islamabad [Pakistan], June 24 (ANI): No candidate has been fielded against the former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in the upcoming general elections.

The PML-N on Saturday announced names of its candidates for national and provincial assembly seats from Punjab, as per Geo News.

This decision was made as the party wanted to keep its doors open for the Nisar.

The suggestion was given by PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif and other senior leaders.

However, Nawaz Sharif will give a final approval in this regard.

Senator Pervaiz Rashid, who was against the decision, said that the former interior minister won't be issued ticket as he did not submit an application.

While addressing a rally in Rawalpindi on Saturday, Nisar said his political opponents won't be able to defeat him.

"My opponents are all those who hid behind Musharraf for eight years. Come and contest election from this constituency, but you won't be able to defeat me," Geo News quoted Nisar as saying.

"Last year, I received 138,000 votes. But this year, I will win by 172,000 votes," he claimed.(ANI)
