Former US Representative Esty denies seeking re-election
Washington D. C. [USA], April 3(ANI): Former Democratic US Representative Elizabeth Esty on Tuesday denied seeking re-election amidst reports of her employing sexual harassment accused Tony Baker.
Esty on Monday evening took to her Facebook account to inform about her decision as she wrote "I have determined that it is in the best interest of my constituents and my family to end my time in Congress at the end of this year and not seek re-election."
This statement comes after certain media reports revealed that she kept her then chief in staff Baker on a payroll for months even after a former staffer Anna Kain had levied sexual harassment charges against him in 2016.
Earlier on Monday Esty had asked the House of Ethics Committee to review the issue and later dismissed Baker after receiving an investigation report on his behaviour.
Elizabeth Esty was a former US representative from Connecticut's 5th congressional district and was elected in 2012. She belongs to the Democratic political party of the US. (ANI)
