China all praises for Pakistan over CPEC

Rawalpindi [Pakistan], May 18 (ANI): China on Friday heaped praises on Pakistan for "safeguarding" ongoing multi-billion dollar China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project, which forms a part of Beijing's ambitious transnational Belt Road Initiative (BRI).

"Efforts of Pakistan Army in safeguarding CPEC security are highly appreciated. We look forward to close cooperation with Pakistan to ensure the security of CPEC," the Express Tribune quoted Chinese Central Military Commission (CMC) Vice Chairman General Zhang Youxia, as saying.

China's General Zhang remarked during his meeting with Pakistan Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.

The military brass of both the sides discussed matters of mutual interest, regional security and enhanced bilateral defence cooperation, reported the Express Tribune.

"China and Pakistan are iron brothers, all-weather friends and strategic partners. We share the tradition of mutual understanding, mutual trust and mutual support. China deeply appreciates the achievements of Pakistan Army in counter-terrorism," General Zhang said.

The two sides have been said to have signed different Memorandums of Understanding (MoU)s to ratchet up the bilateral Defence cooperation. (ANI)
