Padma Awards 2021: Shinzo Abe to be awarded Padma Vibhushan

Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is among 119 recipients whom the government on Monday selected for Padma awards--one of the highest civilian awards in the country. Retired IAS officer from the Uttar Pradesh cadre, Nripendra Misra, who served as principal secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi from 2014 to 2019, is among the 10 Padma Bhushan awardees for 2021.

Although Bollywood has no recipients this year, late playback legend SP Balasubramanian has been honored posthumously with Padma Vibhushan. He is the only name from entertainment industry among seven names who are recipients of the second highest civil honor.
