Vinesh competed in the women's 50 kg wrestling event at the Paris Olympics. She defeated the previous Olympic gold medalist and World Champion in her first match and achieved impressive victories in the quarter-finals and semi-finals. However, she was disqualified on the final day for being 100 grams over the weight limit. Following her disqualification, Vinesh sought a silver medal and appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). Prominent lawyer Harish Salve represented her, but the case was ultimately dismissed.
