‘What AI Should Be Doing’: American Woman Says ChatGPT Saved Her And Her Baby's Life After A Simple Question

A woman from North Carolina thanked ChatGPT in her Instagram post after the AI platform advised her to call an ambulance based on her symptoms.

The whole world is right now moving in the direction of AI, and asking it the questions they have in their mind. But when it started people never thought that it could save lives. Recently an American woman has credited artificial intelligence for saving not just her life, but also the life of her unborn child. Natallia Tarrien, a photographer based in Charlotte, North Carolina, shared a gripping story on Instagram about how a casual question to OpenAI’s ChatGPT turned into a life-saving intervention.

Tarrien, who was eight months pregnant at the time, said the incident began when she asked ChatGPT a simple quoestion. In her caption she wrote. “I asked ChatGPT a question… just for fun,” she wrote in her now-viral Instagram post. Her question was simple and seemingly harmless: “Why does my jaw feel tight?”

ChatGPT’s Suggestion After the Symptoms

The response from the AI chatbot, however, took a serious turn. According to Tarrien, ChatGPT advised her to check her blood pressure — something she had not considered necessary. “So I did. It was high — really high. I thought it would go down… but it only kept climbing,” she explained.

Despite not feeling dizzy or seriously unwell, Tarrien followed ChatGPT’s urgent advice. “Then ChatGPT said: ‘Call an ambulance. Now.’” By the time she arrived at the hospital, her blood pressure had skyrocketed to 200/146 — a dangerously high level that prompted immediate medical intervention.

“The doctors took one look at me and said: ‘We need to deliver your baby — immediately,’” Tarrien wrote. Her son was delivered safely, and she is now recovering. She added a chilling statement from her doctor that underscored the gravity of the situation: “If you had gone to sleep that night… you wouldn’t have woken up.”

The photographer recounted that her blood pressure continued to rise for five days after delivery and even caused a temporary loss of vision. The experience, she said, left her shaken: “I still get chills thinking about it. All of this started from one small symptom — and one random question.”

Users Reaction to the Post

One of the users said, “What Ai should be doing instead of stealing art.” Another user wrote down the symptoms of heart attack and commented, “Most women don't realize that Jaw pain or tightening in a sign of a heart attack. Another one is pain between your shoulder blades. Happened to my 30 year old cousin. Thank God her husband knew to get her to the hospital.”

A third user reminded that a couple of weeks ago Chat GPT helped a person in  identifying a very rare disease and said, “ChatGPT helped someone identify a very rare disease based on the symptoms she described. For years, the many doctors she visited kept misdiagnosing her and were unable to pinpoint the actual issue. Glad to hear it was also of use to you.”
