Mithilesh was arrested in September while he was roaming around in the Khaira area, wearing an IPS uniform, which he said was sold to him along with a pistol for Rs 2 lakh. He was allegedly boasting about his "IPS status" and showing off at the time. The pistol later turned out to be a fake.

When police arrested him, Mithilesh had said, "I am an IPS officer". The accused also indulged in samosas and fritters while telling people that he had become an "IPS officer".

Later, Mithilesh shared his new dream. In a viral video of his interview, he said he has given up on his hopes of becoming a police officer and wants to become a "doctor". "Now, I do not want to become a police officer...I want to become a doctor." When asked why he harboured such an ambition, Mithilesh said, "I want to save people."
