Nagaland Minister Shares Video Of Bamboo Washbasin, Netizens Hail Ecofriendly Innovation

Nagaland minister Temjen Imna Along is extremely active on the internet. The minister, with his amazing sense of humour and fun captions keeps the social media users engaged. He often shares posts about his personal life, unseen essence of the northeastern states and personal life advices. This time, the Higher Education and Tribal Affairs minister has taken to the microblogging site twitter to share a washbasin made entirely from bamboo, highlighting the versatality of the material.
"Dekha hai kahi aisa (Have you seen this anywhere else?)", read the caption of the post shared by Along.
In the video it is explained that these washbasins are made in most of the villages of Nagaland and water is brought to them from rivers in the hills. There are holes made in the pipe-like structure basins that are plugged with bamboo pieces. Whenever someone wants to use them they just need to remove one of the plugged bamboo pieces and water starts to flow from the hole. After finishing washing hands the bamboo piece is re-inserted into the hole. There are also wooden hangers made to hand towels and shelf for soap.
