Bengaluru Man's Post About Paying '50% Of Income As Tax' Sparks Chatter Online

I wouldn't mind paying so much of tax if I was rewarded back for it with good civil amenities, excellent health care, free education and livable cities. People would pay even more tax if all that was provided, but alas!," commented one user on the post

A Bengaluru resident by the name Sanchit Goyal recently took to Twitter to share his frustration about paying more than 50 per cent of his income as tax to the government on both earnings and spending. The post has sparked a conversation regarding the taxes imposed by the government on the people.

Goyal, who works as a category manager at Flipkart took to the microblogging site to write, Today I earned ₹ 5,000. I had to give 30 per cent to the government as tax. I thought of buying some caffeinated beverages from the remaining money and had to give 28 per cent as tax. I realised I am working 12 hours a day just to pay more than 50 per cent of my income to the government."

In another tweet, Goyal highlighted the taxes imposed by the government on products like sugar, cream, and a choco-bar.

His post immediately went viral after being posted on the microblogging site. Since being shared it has amassed a whopping 602.2k views, 9,203 likes and tons of comments.

"and your blood boils when you know that a great portion of tax revenue is going towards salaries, pensions of Government employees and unnecessary freebies rather than building infrastructure," commented one user on the post.

"The govt is promising acche din by taking away around 60 percent of your earnings," wrote another user.

While another wrote," I wouldn't mind paying so much of tax if I was rewarded back for it with good civil amenities, excellent health care, free education and livable cities. People would pay even more tax if all that was provided, but alas!."
