'You Will Be Removed If You Don't...': KCR Warns PM Modi, Asks Him To Frame New Farm Policy | Watch

The Telangana CM gave 24 hours deadline to the Modi government to procure a complete stock of the paddy from Telangana. In case of failure, KCR warned to take out protests across the country

New Delhi: Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao-led 'maha dharna' reached the capital on Monday. Agitated KCR along with TRS leaders staged a protest against the Centre demanding to frame a new agriculture policy. The Telangana CM gave 24 hours deadline to the Modi government to procure a complete stock of the paddy from Telangana. In case of failure, KCR warned to take out agitation across the country.

"With folded hands, I urge Modiji and (Piyush) Goyal ji to respond to the state's demand on paddy procurement within 24 hours. After that, we will take a call," KCR said, as quoted by Moneycontrol.

KCR raked up demands to formulate a new agriculture policy. "Telangana demands their right. I would like to say to PM to frame a new agriculture policy and we will also contribute to that. If you will not do it then you will be removed and the new govt will make a new integrated agriculture policy," news agency ANI reported, quoting the CM.

The demands of the TRS government comprised Centre formulating a 'One Nation, One Procurement' policy and the Union government buying paddy should be equally distributed to all the states. Staging a day-long dharna along with the entire TRS cabinet at Telangana Bhavan here, agitated KCR warned PM Modi to not mess with the farmers.

"Is growing paddy Telangana farmers' fault?... I warn PM Modi that you can't mess with farmers. Indian history is a testament that wherever farmers cried, govt loses power. Nobody is permanent...When in power, don't treat farmers unfairly," news agency ANI quoted as saying by the Telangana CM.

Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait too expressed his solidarity with KCR.

Earlier, the Centre has refused to buy parboiled rice from Telangana farmers in the current Rabi season besides not procuring 100 per cent stock from the state after the Kharif season. The Centre said that they can only buy raw rice and not parboiled rice because it is not consumed at large in India.
