Revanth Reddy Meets Gadkari, Clears Hurdles For Upgrading Telangana Regional Ring Road

The Union minister Nitin Gadkari also instructed NHAI officials to draft proposals designating the RRR-Southern as a national highway, per an official statement.

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy met Union Road Transport and National Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday to request the upgradation of the Regional Ring Road (RRR)-Southern as a national highway. As a result of this meeting, hurdles for declaring the 182-kilometer-long southern section of the RRR in Telangana as a national highway have been cleared.

The Union minister also instructed NHAI officials to draft proposals designating the RRR-Southern as a national highway, per an official statement.

Taking to X, Office Of Nitin Gadkari said, "Telangana Chief Minister Shri Revanth Anumula @revanth_anumula Ji called on Union Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari @nitin_gadkari Ji in New Delhi today. They discussed the progress of ongoing National Highway projects in the state of Telangana."

Additionally, the chief minister sought approval upgrading several vital state highways to national status. Reddy also addressed challenges in the state's highway expansion.

Upon assuming office, Revanth Reddy sent a letter to NHAI agreeing to cover the utilities' relocation costs. In the meeting, the chief minister brought up the issue with Gadkari, who expressed frustration at NHAI's initial stance. Gadkari assured that the Centre would cover the relocation expenses.

Regarding the reallocation expenses for utilities within the RRR boundaries, including electricity poles and buildings, Gadkari affirmed it would be covered by the central government. He urged the chief minister to expedite land acquisition and construction procedures for the RRR.

Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, State Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, and senior state officials were present.
