Telangana: Rahul Gandhi and TRS Leaders In Twitter Spat Over Paddy Procurement Issue

Rahul Gandhi also said in a tweet that Congress will stand by and fight for Telangana farmers till the last grain of paddy is procured by the Centre from the state

Hyderabad: Amid the ongoing tension between the Centre and Telangana government over paddy procurement, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday wrote on his Twitter handle in Telugu that It is a shame that the BJP and TRS governments are neglecting their moral responsibility by politicising paddy procurement from the farmers of Telangana. He demanded that both parties should stop harassing farmers and give them what they deserve.

He also said in a tweet that Congress will stand by and fight for Telangana farmers till the last grain of paddy is procured by the Centre from the state.

Responding to the Congress leader's allegations, Telangana Health Minister T Harish Rao and MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha slammed Gandhi for not taking any decision on the 'One Nation, One Procurement' policy. They asked him to support their party leaders in the parliament and not on Twitter.

In a tweet, Harish Rao said, "Stop shedding crocodile tears for Telangana. If you really want to support our leaders in the parliament and not on Twitter."

"First decide what is your party's stand about One Nation, One Procurement policy," he added.

However, after Rahul Gandhi tweeted in Telugu, TRS MLC Kalvakuntla responded to the tweet. Kavitha wrote, "Rahul Gandhi, you are an MP, don't nominally express solidarity on Twitter for political gains. TRS party MPs are protesting every day in parliament, demanding a uniform policy for procuring food grains across the country. If you are honest, come to House and protest in support of Telangana MPs on One Nation One Procurement Policy."
