Three FIRs Against Telangana Congress President Revanth Reddy For Threatening Cops Over 'Red Diary'

Telangana Congress chief Revanth Reddy allegedly said that a 'red diary' is being maintained that lists the names of all the cops who favour TRS and action would be taken against them based on that.

Three FIRs have been registered against Telangana Congress president Revanth Reddy for allegedly making objectionable statements. The FIRs were registered at the Boothpur, Nagar Kurnool,  and Jadcherla police stations.

Nagarkurnool District Police Officers' Association President Gunawardhan registered a complaint, alleging that Revanth Reddy had made inappropriate comments against the police. On the orders of the District SP, the police booked Revanth Reddy and former MLAs Vamsichander Reddy and Sampath Kumar. Revanth made the alleged remarks during the induction of the TRS leaders of Nagar Kurnool district in the Congress party. He accused many in the police department of working in favour of TRS leaders.

According to One India Telugu, Revanth Reddy allegedly warned that if a Congress government comes to power, they will be beaten to rags. He also said that a 'red diary' is being maintained that lists the names of all the cops who favour TRS and action would be taken against them based on that list. According to Telangana Today, the Lok Sabha MP warned that these cops would be “thrashed black and blue”.

Revanth Reddy's comments have drawn flak from several quarters, with police associations across the state condemning the comments. The police's action against the Congress leaders comes just a few months before the Telangana Assembly elections, which are scheduled to be held at the end of this year.

Spokesperson for BRS Sravan Dasoju slammed Reddy's comments as being against democratic principles and the constitution, labelling them as uncivilized and barbaric. "The issue isn't limited to Revanth Reddy alone; if one delves deeper, it becomes evident that the root lies with Rahul Gandhi and the Congress high command in Delhi," the BRS leader said.

The BRS leader further alleged that Reddy had previously abused transgenders, backward classes, SCs, and leaders of various political parties, including BRS.

Y Gopi Reddy, the president of the Telangana Police Officers Association, issued a statement condemning the Congress leader's comments, demanding an apology, withdrawal of the statements, and initiation of legal action by the police.
