Congress MLA Satyam represents Choppadandi constituency in Karimnagar district.

Rupa Devi, the wife of Telangana Congress MLA M. Satyam, was found dead at their residence on Thursday night. According to police, her death is being treated as a suspected case of suicide.

Satyam represents the Choppadandi constituency in Karimnagar district.

On Thursday, family members found Rupa Devi dead by hanging in her house. Preliminary inquiries suggest that she may have taken this drastic step due to ongoing health issues. However, the police have registered a case and an investigation is currently underway to determine the exact circumstances surrounding her death, as reported by PTI. She was reportedly working as a teacher.

The body of Rupa Devi has been shifted to a private hospital at Suchitra Junction for further examination.

The Petbasheerabad police under the Cyberabad commissionerate are currently looking into reports suggesting that the legislator’s wife allegedly took her own life at home, with some family members present during the incident.

Upon receiving this information, Assistant Commissioners of Police of Petbasheerabad and Gajwel, Ramulu and Purushotham Reddy, promptly visited the scene to gather more details.

Telangana BC Welfare and Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar was among the first to offer his condolences to the bereaved family, expressing deep sorrow over the untimely demise of Rupa Devi.

In response to the situation, BC Welfare and Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar informed The Hindu that upon learning of the incident, he was on his way from Hyderabad and to his constituency, Husnabad. Subsequently, upon hearing the news, he hastened back to Hyderabad.
