Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President, A Revanth Reddy, launched the "Haath Se Haath Jodo" padayatra on Monday from Medaram village in Tadvai Mandal of Mulugu district. Revanth Reddy launched the padayatra after a puja to the tribal deities Sammakka and Saralamma.
On the first day of the walkathon, he took part together with Seethakka, a local Congress MLA, and hundreds of party members.
Speaking to the audience, Reddy promised to battle against and put an end to autocratic and feudal rule in the state by enlisting the help of the tribal fighters Sammakka and Saralamma. He claimed that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's rule resembles a monarchy.
He said the BRS government repeatedly highlights its welfare programmes. However, farmers continued to die by suicide due to indebtedness, unemployed youth are in despair due to the absence of job notifications, and poor applicants continue to wait for the double-bedroom housing promised by BRS, he said.
