Telangana CM KCR Meets Nitish Kumar In Bihar, Calls For 'BJP-Mukt Bharat'

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar said that the Telangana government's financial assistance to the families of soldiers who died in Galwan Valley clashes is appreciable.

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao called for 'BJP-Mukt Bharat' as he met his Bihar counterpart Nitish Kumar and his deputy Tejashwi Yadav and other senior leaders in Patna on Wednesday.          

"Nitish Kumar is a senior leader in the country. We will try to unite all Opposition parties in the country," news agency ANI quoted KCR as saying. 

Later CM KCR, CM Nitish Kumar, and Deputy CM Tejaswi Yadav handed over Rs 10 lakh compensation to the families of soldiers who died in Galwan Valley, along with Rs 5 lakh financial help to the kin of 12 BIHAR labourers who had lost their lives in a fire mishap at a godown in Hyderabad. 

"A message to the whole country to stand by the families of the martyred soldiers should reach everyone. This will boost the self confidence of soldiers and Indian Military Forces," KCR said.

Taking potshots at the Centre over its handling of the Covid pandemic, KCR said, "The Union Government, which claims to be an efficient government, ignored the request to run special trains during Covid-19 pandemic. Telangana Government understood the plight of the migrant workers from Bihar and other states here. We share their happiness and hardships. Special trains were arranged and many workers and laborers were shifted to their respective states."

Appreciating the Telangana government's initiative, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar said, "KCR has fought for the formation of Telangana since 2001. It was due to his hard work and perseverance that the formation of a separate state was possible. Telangana is progressing under the leadership of KCR. Drinking water is provided to every house through Mission Bhagiratha in Telangana. We are working hard to provide Ganga water everywhere in Bihar as well. We will soon send officials to Telangana to examine the water policies." 

Meanwhile, lashing out at the Narendra Modi government in the Centre, CM Nitish Kumar criticised its “excessive prachaar-prasaar” (publicity) besides its alleged lack of sensitivity towards the needs of the states.

Kumar also expressed anguish over the government's stout refusal to accept his plea for giving special category status to Bihar.

"The special status could have helped us develop faster. I have now left them (BJP-led government). The old times were different as Atal ji used to treat others with respect. Now there is no work only prachaar and prasaar”, Kumar said.
