Telangana: BJP President JP Nadda's Poster Placed In 'Grave', Party Calls It 'New Low' In Politics

Unidentified persons in Telangana's Munugode, Nalgonda district, dug a grave and buried a poster of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president JP Nadda over a delay in setting up of Regional Fluoride Mitigation and Research Centre in Choutuppal area, ANI reported.

The incident came to light on Thursday ahead of the Munugode bypoll. In 2016, Nadda had promised to set up the research centre in Malkapuran when he visited Munugode.

Reacting to the incident, Telangana BJP leader NV Subhash said, "Digging a grave & putting a picture of JP Nadda is stupidity. We condemn it and will file a police complaint".

He further said, "BJP requested TRS govt about JP Nadda accepting there will be fluoride institute in Munugode, even after repeated requests, TRS govt has gone blind & deaf. As they've failed & don't have any issues, they raked up this issue before the bypoll".

Meanwhile, TRS leaders criticised JP Nadda for breaking his commitment to establish a regional fluoride mitigation and research centre in Choutuppal.

Health Minister Harish Rao, who raised questions on Twitter, severely criticised the BJP's approach. He said the Centre failed to provide funds to the Fluoride Research Center for six years. The Telangana government has allocated 8.2 acres of land in Choutuppal to establish this center.

He claimed that JP Nadda had forgotten his pledge to build a 300-bed hospital in Marriguda village. "BJP leaders who do not have the public's support are coming to Munugode to get votes by telling lies," said Harish Rao.

BJP leaders condemned the incident and accused the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi, formerly known as Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), of beng behind the incident.

"Digging a grave and putting a picture of JP Nadda is stupidity. We condemn it and will file a police complaint. BJP requested the TRS government about the fluoride institute in Munugode, even after repeated requests, the TRS govt has gone blind and deaf. As they have failed and do not have any issue, they raked up this issue before the bypoll," BJP leader NV Subhash told ANI.

Union Minister Smriti Irani said the act is a "new low" in Indian politics. "Vinash kale viprit buddhi," she tweeted.

Taking to Twitter Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said, "Despicable indeed! This marks a disturbing & disgraceful new low in the political discourse. Clearly shows how dispensations which aspire to challenge the BJP in Telangana are clearly intimidated by our momentum."
