Telangana BJP Moves HC, Seeks CBI Probe Into 'Poaching' Bid Of TRS Legislators

The petition seeks that a special investigation team should be formed to conduct an enquiry into the case, registered at Moniabad Police Station so that probe is conducted in a free and fair manner.

New Delhi: Telangana BJP general secretary Parminder Reddy on Thursday approached the High Court in connection to a raid at a farmhouse in Hyderabad where police claimed to have busted an alleged poaching attempt of four TRS legislators and sought the case to be transferred to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

The petition seeks that a special investigation team should be formed to conduct an enquiry into the case, registered at Moniabad Police Station so that the probe is conducted in a free and fair manner and to safeguard the interest of justice.

According to reports, three men were booked by the Cyberabad police after they were found at a farmhouse in Aziz Nagar near Hyderabad while allegedly trying to entice four Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) legislators with promises of large sums of money, prestigious jobs, and contracts. The arrests were made on Wednesday.

Based on a complaint of TRS MLA Pilot Rohit Reddy, police registered an FIR against Nanda Kumar of Hyderabad, Ramachandra Bharati alias Satish Sharma of Delhi, and Simhayaji Swamy of Tirupati.

They have slapped with charges under sections 120 B (criminal conspiracy), 171-B (bribery) read with 171-E (punishment of bribery), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) read with 34 (acts done by several people in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 8 of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

According to the complainant, BJP members Ramachandra Bharati and Nanda Kumar met him and reportedly promised him Rs 100 crore in exchange for not contesting as a candidate from the TRS and to join BJP by resigning from the ruling party.

Additionally, they also enticed him to join the BJP by promising to grant him high-level central government jobs and civil contract work in exchange for financial rewards.
