The Bathini Harinath Goud family members have been administering the 'fish prasadam' on the day of 'Mrigasira Karthi' every year for over 100 years. The 'prasadam' is made up of murrel fish and herbal paste. According to the family's tradition, the formula for the 'fish prasadam' was given to a family elder by a holy man.
The medicinal properties of the 'fish prasadam' have been a subject of debate, with scientists, rationalists, and others questioning its effectiveness. However, despite the scepticism, thousands of people visit the city every year to receive the 'prasadam' due to their faith in its healing powers.
According to a report in Siasat Daily, the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) has deployed 130 special buses for the annual fish prasadam administration on June 9 and June 10. The special buses will display destination boards in Telugu, Urdu, and English and will be operated from railway stations, bus stops, and the airport in the city at usual fares.
Of the total, 50 special buses will be operated from Secunderabad railway station, Kachiguda railway station, JBS, MGBS, ECIL X road, and RGI Airport to the exhibition ground, while 80 special buses will operate from 14 other places to the venue.
TSRTC officials have set up special counters at Kachiguda railway station, Secunderabad railway station, MGBS, JBS, and Exhibition Grounds points to address public issues.
