X Ban In Brazil: Justice Alexandre De Moraes Lifts Ban, Elon Musk-Owned Platform To Resume Services Within 24 Hours

X Ban In Brazil: X's government affairs team while reacting to this wrote, "Giving tens of millions of Brazilians access to our indispensable platform was paramount throughout this entire process."

X Ban In Brazil: X will finally be returning to Brazil after complying with the demands of the Brazilian Supreme Court. Following X's payment of all imposed fines, the Brazilian apex court said that it is lifting the ban. As per a statement, X has paid around $5.1 million in fines, blocked certain accounts that were accused of spreading misinformation, and agreed to appoint a local representative, which was some of the conditions laid down by the court.

Brazil Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes said that he authorised the "immediate return" of X's activities in the country after it paid hefty fines and blocked accounts accused of spreading misinformation. Moraes had blocked access to the Elon Musk owned platform after it refused to ban certain accounts that were allegedly spreading misinformation about the 2022 Brazilian Presidential elections.

X on Tuesday said, it was "proud to return to Brazil." X's government affairs team wrote, "Giving tens of millions of Brazilians access to our indispensable platform was paramount throughout this entire process."

Brazil telecom watchdog, Anatel, has been tasked to ensure the resumption of X in Brazil under 24 hours.

Elon Musk V Alexandre De Moraes

The billionaire entrepreneur, who identifies as a "free-speech absolutist," had criticized Justice Moraes’ decision to suspend dozens of accounts, calling it an abuse of power and a violation of free speech. Shortly afterward, Justice Moraes responded by ordering the nationwide shutdown of the platform.

As a result, many users migrated to other platforms like Bluesky, and the demand for VPNs (Virtual Private Networks) in Brazil spiked. However, by September, the platform made a surprising reversal and started adhering to the court's rulings.

It seems that X has now fulfilled all the requirements to have the ban revoked. Brazil remains one of the platform's largest markets worldwide and its biggest in Latin America, boasting approximately 22 million users.
