Pragya Misra, OpenAI's First India Hire, Is An Avid Golfer & YouTuber. Here's Everything You Need To Know About Her

Pragya Misra was previously working at Truecaller as the Director of Public Affairs. She had also worked in several other leading tech companies, including Meta.

OpenAI, the Sam Altman-led maker of ChatGPT, has hired its first employee in India, Pragya Misra, marking a milestone for the company in its expansion efforts. The 39-year-old has taken on the role of government relations head, indicating OpenAI's commitment to engaging with policymakers as the global conversation around AI regulation intensifies.

While the company has not officially announced the appointment, Bloomberg has reported that Misra will lead OpenAI's public policy initiatives and forge strategic partnerships within India.

Misra brings a wealth of experience to her new role, having served as the Director of Public Affairs at Truecaller since July 2021. Prior to that, she held positions at Meta Platforms, WhatsApp, Ernst & Young, and the Royal Danish Embassy in New Delhi.

Pragya Misra: London School Of Economics, Avid Golfer, Podcaster

Educated at the International Management Institute and Delhi University, Misra holds an MBA and a degree in commerce. She has also completed a Diploma in Bargaining and Negotiations from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Beyond her professional achievements, Misra is an accomplished golfer who has represented India in international tournaments. She is also a certified Heartfulness Meditation Trainer and advocates for the benefits of meditation.

In addition to her corporate and sporting pursuits, Misra hosts the popular Pragyaan Podcast, where she delves into topics such as meditation and consciousness, attracting over 7,000 subscribers on YouTube.
