How To Bring Old Photos To Life With Deep Nostalgia Feature On MyHeritage App; Check Steps To Follow

New Delhi: A new app is making waves on social media as its peculiar feature has garnered a lot of attention. The app is MyHeritage and its new Deep Nostalgia feature is helping users create life-like animates images from old photos of people.

These animated portraits are an outcome of artificial intelligence-driven 'Deepfake' that is aiding people to create stunning motion photos with near-perfect expressions and facial movement.

Recently, a user created such AI photos of historical Indian personalities Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Swami Vivekananda, Lokmanya Tilak, Kasturba Gandhi, Aurobindo and Munshi Premchand, which went quickly went viral garnering more attention for the app.

What is MyHeritage App?

This is another family history and DNA testing type app. “The simple MyHeritage DNA test will reveal your unique ethnic background, and match you with newfound relatives. Discover the specific groups you descend from among 2100+ geographic regions, and take family history to the next level with the most affordable DNA test on the market,” the official website informs.

It claims to have a huge international records database using which people can learn more about their ancestors with a simple name search.

How To Use Deep Nostalgia Feature?

As previously stated, the feature creates short animation of people’s still photos giving them life-like facial movements and expressions.

Users can access the feature through the official website or download the Android or iOS app. They then need to sign up for a free trial account.

If using the app, tap on the menu icon in the top left corner and select “Photos” from the list. If using the website, click on the “Family Tree” tab and then on “Animate Photos”.

Then upload the image that you wish to have animated.

On the website, the system will automatically animate the photo once uploaded. However, on the app, the photo will first need to be saved. The app user will then have to tap on the image to open it and then on the animate button (first icon in the top row) to start the process.

After the photo has been animated, the user can then save/download it.

Users must note that the free account offers a limited-period trial and after it ends, they will have to upgrade to a paid account if they want to continue to use the animation feature.
