Xiaomi 13 Series Launching On December 11 After Short Delay, Company Confirms

Handset maker Xiaomi has officially confirmed that the Xiaomi 13 series will be unveiled on December 11 in the company's home turf China.

Handset maker Xiaomi has officially confirmed that the Xiaomi 13 series will be unveiled on December 11 in the company's home turf China. The company is also expected to unveil MIUI 14, its new custom Android skin along with the flagship Xiaomi 13 line. The company is also expected to unveil the Xiaomi Buds 4 and the Xiaomi Watch S2.

It should be noted that the Xiaomi 13 flagship lineup will be among the first lot of devices to feature Qualcomm’s top-tier Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile SoC. Vivo has already launched its X90 Pro+ with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset.

Xiaomi, which was slated to unveil its flagship Xiaomi 13 series on December 1, had postponed its launch in the wake of the passing of Jiang Zemin -- the former General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party.

According to a report by GSMArena, the Xiaomi 13 will be a fairly compact flagship device powered by the top-tier Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. It will have flat sides and a panel with no curves and as per a render of the smartphone, one of the colour options will be Blue leather. The leaked render also shows that the Xiaomi 13 Pro will also have a similar camera alignment but without a periscope lens.

The Xiaomi 12 Pro was impressive and the Xiaomi 13 series is likely to be equally disruptive. It should be noted that Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro would bring major camera upgrades in partnership with German camera giant Leica.

Previously leaked images of the upcoming Xiaomi 13 series suggested that the smartphones may look similar to the Apple iPhone line. However, new renders suggest a different camera design.

According to previously leaked hands-on photos of the Xiaomi 13 series in a report by Notebook Check, the Xiaomi 13 has a flat display and "extremely thin bezels", arguably thinner than those on the Xiaomi 13 Pro. However, the Xiaomi 13 Pro relies on a curved display, similar to the Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. Both smartphones have large camera housing with three lenses, although the Xiaomi 13 Pro’s spans even more of its back panel than the Xiaomi 13. In short, the Xiaomi 13 Pro is a larger version of the Xiaomi 13 in all senses, with the former appearing to have a significantly thicker camera housing too, the Notebook Check report added.
