Sony PlayStation Portal Remote Player Launched In India With 8-Inch LCD Display: Check Price, Features

PlayStation Portal Remote Player boasts an eight-inch LCD display and includes DualSense wireless controller functionalities, such as haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, in supported games.

Sony on Friday announced the debut of the PlayStation Portal Remote Player, Sony's game-streaming handheld device. PlayStation India announced that the device will soon be available in the Indian market. Initially launched in the US and globally late last year, the PlayStation Portal Remote Player enables players to stream PS5 games remotely with console-quality controls via a Wi-Fi connection, even though it does not run games natively.

The device features an eight-inch LCD display and includes DualSense wireless controller functionalities, such as haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, in supported games.

Sony PlayStation Portal Remote Player: Price In India, Availability

The Sony PlayStation Portal Remote Player comes with a price tag of Rs 18,999 in India.

It will be offered in a single white colour and will be available for purchase starting August 3 at Sony Centres, Amazon, Flipkart, Croma, Reliance, Vijay Sales, Blinkit, and other participating retailers.

Sony PlayStation Portal Remote Player: Specifications, Features

The PlayStation Portal remote player is equipped with an eight-inch LCD display, offering a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels and a refresh rate of 60Hz. It can stream PS4 and PS5 games installed on Sony's latest console at up to 60fps in full HD resolution. The screen also features touch-sensitive zones on the left and right sides.

This device includes DualSense wireless controller features, such as haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, for compatible games.

For connectivity, the PlayStation Portal has a USB Type-C port for charging, a 3.5mm headphone jack, Sony's proprietary PS Link feature, and Wi-Fi 5, but it does not support Bluetooth connectivity.

While the PlayStation Portal cannot run games locally, it allows players to stream games from their PS5 library over a home Wi-Fi connection. This enables users to play their PS5 games on the PlayStation Portal even if the TV connected to the console is in use.

The device utilises Sony's Remote Play feature. To set it up, players need to turn on their PS5 or put it in rest mode, ensuring the console is connected to the Internet and updated to the latest system software version.
