Apple Partner Foxconn On Hiring Spree At Largest Factory Ahead Of iPhone 15 Launch

Apple's largest and most prominent manufacturing partner Foxconn has ramped up hiring at the world's biggest iPhone factory in Zhengzhou province of China, weeks ahead of the launch of the upcoming iPhone 15. Apple is likely to unveil the iPhone 15 series this fall. A recruiter named Zhao, which is responsible for hiring staff for Foxconn, is hiring permanent employees and temporary workers at an hourly wage of 21.5 yuan ($3), the media has reported. Foxconn's production factory in Zhengzhou, China had to let go of workers during the strict COvid-19 lockdown in the country last year, but now, the facility is in need of workers.

Local recruiting agencies in Zhengzhou are proactively creating a talent pool to meet the requirements of the upcoming peak season, according to a recruiter named Zhao, says a report by Apple Insider.

The Product Enclosure Business Group unit of Foxconn, operating in Zhengzhou, recently announced a job posting offering a bonus of 8,000 yuan ($1,105) for former employees who rejoin the assembly line during peak seasons. This particular unit is responsible for manufacturing mechanical components for the iPhone, the report added.

Incentives are being offered to staff who refer new workers. They are being offered 1,000 yuan (which is around Rs 11,000) reward for each successful referral. Further, individuals who join during the peak season under a referral and remain employed for at least four months will receive a one-time bonus of 7,000 yuan (which translates into Rs 79,000).

Foxconn's iPhone Production In India

Meanwhile, Foxconn is said to start manufacturing iPhones in the Indian state of Karnataka by April 2024, the state government said earlier this month. According to a report by news agency Reuters, the land for the Foxconn facility would be handed over to the company by July 1, the government said, adding that the project, valued at Rs 13,000 crore ($1.59 billion), is expected to create around 50,000 jobs.
