Elon Musk Vs Mark Zuckerberg Cage Fight: Meta CEO ‘Not Holding’ His Breath For August 26 Faceoff
Zuckerberg made a series of posts on Threads, claiming that he is raring to go “today” against Musk if need be.
This could very well be the most pointless event of the year, despite being one of the most-talked-about one in recent months. Twitter owner Elon Musk, back in June this year, challenged Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg to mixed martial arts (MMA) “cage match”, sharing his proposition on Twitter. The tweet was posted around the time under the backdrop of Meta working on its Twitter rival, Threads (which was eventually launched on July 5). Ever since then, the two billionaires have been ranting on social media about their upcoming match and only now, Zuckerberg has ‘threaded’ that he is “ready today”.
On Sunday, Zuckerberg made a series of posts on Threads, claiming that he is raring to go “today” if need be. He also said that he suggested August 26 as the date for the much-awaited face-off, but apparently Musk “hasn’t confirmed”.
He added that he “loves” the sport of MMA and that he’d “continue competing with people who train no matter what happens here.”

When noted social media security researcher and transparency advocate Jane Manchun Wong asked if the fight is actually “mutually agreed upon”, Zuckerberg simply replied that it was more like “funding secured”.

Perhaps in a bid to bring more sense into the much-hyped fight, Zuckerberg also said that perhaps a more reliable platform should be explored “that can actually raise money for charity” after Musk tweeted that the fight will be live-streamed on X (the new name for Twitter) and that the proceeds will go to “charity for veterans”.
While Zuckerberg has been quite vocal over his love for MMA and has been posting photos of his shredded physique while training with athletes, Musk claims that he’d win if the match is short, since he is “much bigger”, whereas Zuckerberg might win if the match runs for a long time since he has more endurance.
If the fight is short, I probably win. If long, he may win on endurance.

I am much bigger and there is a reason MMA has weight divisions.
As of yet, there have been no official details on the fight. Neither X and Meta nor UFC President Dana White (said to coordinating the fight) has confirmed any details.
