Yogi, Shivraj, Himanta Among BJP Leaders To Lose Golden Tick On X After Changing Profile Pic To Tricolour

After PM Modi's request for the same, those on X who changed their profile pictures to the tricolour have lost their Golden tick.

Several Bharatiya Janata Party bigwigs including various chief ministers of BJP-ruled states have lost their golden tick on social media platform 'X', formerly known as Twitter, after they changed their display picture to the tricolour as part of the 'Har Ghar Tiranga campaign' following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal. The campaign was launched ahead of India's 77th Independence Day to encourage citizens to display the Indian flag on their social media profiles.

After PM Modi's request for the same, those on X who changed their profile pictures to the tricolour have lost their Golden tick. The golden tick is a verification mark that signifies an account is genuine and belongs to the person or organisation that it claims to represent.

The Chief Ministers who lost the Golden verification mark include UP CM Yogi Adityanath, Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar, Goa CM Dr Pramod Sawant, Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, and Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma.

PM Modi, who also changed his display picture to the Indian tricolour as part of the campaign, has not lost the grey tick on his account which is reserved for Union and state government officials as well as parliamentarians.

The action on golden tick has come as social media platform X has a policy that requires verified accounts to use their real names and display pictures.

As per the amended criteria, the 'X' management reviews the leaders' profile and, if it fits all of the guidelines, the verification tick is restored.

This comes as X also appeared to face an outage with respect to media files shared on the platform as users were unable to view them, a confirmation in this regard is awaited.
